Sharing a Station
You can participate in the dissemination and sharing of data collected by your personal weather station by enabling Weather Station to send, at regular intervals, outdoor data like temperature, pressure, humidity, dew point, wind and rain to online services. For now, you can share your station directly with two services.
Note that no data from inside your home (noise, temperature, CO₂ …) are transmitted to these services.
Met Office
The Met Office which is the UK government agency of meteorology allows to share weather records on the site called Weather Observations Website. To send data to this site, just fill the right fields (in the right box) of the relevant station view: site ID and authentication key.
To obtain your site ID and authentication key, follow these steps:
- Create an account on the Weather Observations Website from Met Office.
- After registration, log in and create a site.
- Then, copy and paste Site ID and Authentication Key in the corresponding fields of the “WOW Met Office” box, and click on the “connect” button.
After a few hours you’ll get something like this!
PWS Weather
PWS Weather is a network of personal weather stations. To send data to this site, just fill the right fields (in the right box) of the relevant station view: station ID and password.
To obtain your station ID, follow these steps:
- Create an account on the PWS website.
- After registration, log in and add a new station.
- Then, copy and paste Station ID in the corresponding fields of the “PWS Weather” box, set your password and click on the “connect” button.
After a few hours you’ll get something like this!
Other services
If the service you are interested in is not listed here, don’t hesitate to submit it as a suggestion… I would see if it is possible for Weather Station to manage it in a future release.
An alternative to this direct sharing is the publication of data – some other services are able to take advantage of it.
