On May 15, 2018, Weather Underground announced that it will no longer issue new free API keys. Although the reasons for this decision remains very mysterious, and the future of the Weather Underground services very uncertain, it is important to understand that:
- the free keys already delivered will continue to be operational until a date that is not yet known ;
- the price of the paid keys will increase very significantly ;
- Weather Station will continue to provide access to Weather Underground services as long as these keys will be operational.
I know this incomprehensible decision of Weather Underground is a real problem for some of you. If you want a "universal" free key, you can grab one at the line 38 of this file... But this key will be operational until they decide to definitively close the free service.
If you like Weather Station, please consider to make a review to help make it known. That would be the best way to thank me...
Hi, Pierre.
Owners of personal weather stations will continue to have uninterrupted access to their data. Other API users can get more information regarding costs associated with using The Weather Company's data through this form: http://biz.weather.com/WU-Data-API_Data-Package-Demo-Request.html
The most up-to-date information about the WU API's end of service can be found at https://apicommunity.wunderground.com/weatherapi
Thank you,

I'm a paid user at WeatherUnderground, so I can still use the API, as far as I can see.
But where can I fill it in? In the settins meny, I can see Netamo, OpenweatherMap, Mabox, etc.. but nu WeatherUnderground ?
Erwin
Hi, Erwin.
Have you connected your PWS to Wunderground? See the instructions at https://www.wunderground.com/personal-weather-station/signup?new=1
Uploading data from a PWS is separate from the WU API. The current date for the API to go down is 15 Feb 2019; your key will stop working then. See https://apicommunity.wunderground.com/weatherapi/topics/weather-underground-api-update.
