Hi Pierre,

Guess you are back from your vacation. Hope it was a good one!

I received a great new addition for my station. I got my Instromet Sunshine Sensor, and got it working! It is connected to a Davis rain station. Meteobridge is collecting the data from all the stations, and I upload the data via a Realtime.txt file to Weather.station.

I adapted the standard Meteobridge Realtime.txt template to include the sunshine hours at position 56, the place for that data according to this  http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Realtime.txt  info.

Now the right data is included in my realtime.txt file  http://80.100.197.131/weer/mb/realtime.txt  . This is what the collected data looks like:

12/08/18 21:31:44 19.9 62 12.4 0.0 0.0 173 0.0 0.0 1009.6 S 0 m/s C hPa mm - -1.3 25.4 574.6 2.4 25.5 53 19.9 -5.9 26.7 16:47 8.4 02:59 6.5 12:45 8.5 12:32 1021.0 00:00 1009.6 21:00 1.8.7 819 0.0 19.9 - 0.0 - 0 173 0.0 - 1 0 S 3000 ft - 3.42 822 0

The number 3.42 at almost the end of the line is 3 hours and 42/100 of an hour (the sensor registers if there is direct sunshine every 36 seconds, so every 1/100th of an hour) of registered sunshine for today.

The issue is that I am unable to find this number in Weather.station There is a second station that only shows the atmospheric pressure, in the attached picture it is the station to the top right.

Am I missing something, or is this part of the realtime.txt file not read in Weather.station?

Hope you can help!

thanks!

Gerhard

Hi @gerhard!

I'm still on vacation for 5 days... And yes it is still excellent (after some days in Fierenze, Italia, I'm now in Provence, near Avignon 😎 ). Hope yours was good too...

What I can say for now is: this value is not used by Weather Station for now (I did not have any stations with this indicator to test), but now that I know someone who has this, I will be able to include it in the values collected by Weather Station.

I will contact you next week to "organize" tests, if you're ok...

Hey Pierre,

Here is an update on the Realtime.txt file generated by Meteobridge: The message below was the one i sent, and the reply was simple: it will be included in the next update. These updates are approximately weekly updates.

Another option for Meteobridge-Weather.station.software users could be to create a specific Weather.station.software template, and by that have a tailor-made datafile, based on the realtime.txt file structure. The Meteobridge HW is very capable, it reads its data from lots of different weather stations. Now it even includes a plug-in solution for Davis stations. I'd be willing to try to get this starten if you want. The Meteobridge HW can generate lots more data than is included in the Realtime.txt file. So it could make sense to provide a template that Meteobridge users can simply add to the "Templates" section, and have Meteobridge populate the file with current values, and upload the resulting file to a accessible location, same as the Realtime.txt file.

Hi,

I added [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] to realtime.txt template at pos 56.
http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Realtime.txt shows that this is the correct position for sunshine-hours. According to Cumulus, i do not know if this is a well-regulated protocol.

I use the Instromet sunshine hours sensor, connected to a Davis Windstation (connected to the Rain-connection) And MB is reading the data.

This is the content of the adapted realtime.txt file in the Template-folder of the MBpro:

[DD]/[MM]/[YY] [hh]:[mm]:[ss] [th0temp-act.1:-] [th0hum-act.0:-] [th0dew-act.1:-] [wind0avgwind-act.1:-] [wind0wind-act.1:-] [wind0dir-act.0:-] [rain0rate-act.1:-] [rain0total-sumday.1:-] [thb0seapress-act.1:-] [wind0dir-act=endir:-] [wind0wind-act=bft.0:-] m/s C hPa mm - [thb0seapress-delta3h.1:0] [rain0total-mmax.1:-] [rain0total-ymax.1:-] [rain0total-ydmax.1:-] [thb0temp-act.1:-] [thb0hum-act.0:-] [wind0chill-act.1:-] [th0temp-delta3h.1:0] [th0temp-dmax.1:-] [th0temp-dmaxtime.ij:-]:[th0temp-dmaxtime.kl:-] [th0temp-dmin.1:-] [th0temp-dmintime.ij:-]:[th0temp-dmintime.kl:-] [wind0avgwind-dmax.1:-] [wind0avgwind-dmaxtime.ij:-]:[wind0avgwind-dmaxtime.kl:-] [wind0wind-dmax.1:-] [wind0wind-dmaxtime.ij:-]:[wind0wind-dmaxtime.kl:-] [thb0seapress-dmax.1:-] [thb0seapress-dmaxtime.ij:-]:[thb0seapress-dmaxtime.kl:-] [thb0seapress-dmin.1:-] [thb0seapress-dmintime.ij:-]:[thb0seapress-dmintime.kl:-] 1.8.7 819 [wind0wind-max10.1:-] [th0heatindex-act.1:-] - [uv0index-act.1:-] [sol0evo-sumday.1:-] [sol0rad-act.0:-] [wind0dir-avg10.0:-] [rain0total-sum60.1:-] - [mbsystem-isday.0:-] 0 [wind0dir-act=endir:-] #if#[th0temp-act.1:0.0]>[th0dew-act.1:0.0]#then#{*([th0temp-act.1:0.0]-[th0dew-act.1:0.0])*400*0}#else#0#fi# ft - [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] [mbsystem-solarmax.0:-] 0

This is what my realtime.txt template looks like. So in the parsed file there is a H:decimalhour value for sunshine hours today, in this case 5h37:

24/08/18 16:33:43 18.0 51 7.7 4.9 4.3 235 0.0 0.0 1011.6 SW 3 m/s C hPa mm - -0.2 68.8 618.0 3.0 25.5 45 17.7 -0.7 19.7 15:05 12.6 04:02 6.8 14:22 10.4 14:50 1012.0 14:16 1008.6 05:46 1.8.7 819 7.1 18.0 - 1.5 - 325 265 0.0 - 1 0 SW 4120 ft - 5.37 765 0

This is the location of my resulting file: http://80.100.197.131/weer/mb/realtime.txt

I use the weather.station.software Wordpress plugin, and Pierre, the developer is more than willing to add the sunshine hours to his plugin, and the realtime.txt is already collected by his plugin.

However, when the latest MB pro software was downloaded recently the Realtime.txt template was replaced too by the default one, so the sunshine hours reading was gone, until i added the [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] to the template again.

So, I hoped it would be possible to add the [sun0total-daysum.2:0.0] reading to the template.

The "problem" with the graph (sunshine.chart) was simply solved by choosing "Hours" instead of "minutes" resolution.

I hope this makes sense;-)
Thanks!
Gerhard

Hello @gerhard!

That's really good news.

Can I use the url of your file (on ip 80.100.197.131) to make my tests (to be sure it will be ok for version 3.6)?

If you like Weather Station, please consider to make a review to help make it known. That would be the best way to thank me...

Hey Pierre,

Of course you can! Not much sun today though... only 0.87 hours now!

By the way; Meteobridge has updated the template, so the sun hours reading is implemented!

Aha. Same thing here (France/Belgium border). I do not have a sensor, but I can tell you with certainty that if I had one, it would display 0:00 hours  😥

Thanks for the file. I will begin to develop the feature...

Hello @gerhard!

While developing the feature, I see today (2 hours ago) a drop in your file. For me the value can not decrease (if I understand well). Maybe do you have an issue on your probe or in your file generator? Do you have an idea from where it come?

Hey Pierre,

I noticed it also. The Meteobridge has been powered off for a minute this early afternoon (around 12.30 or so) After that I noticed the day total started at 0 again. So I guess that is the reason!

Thanks! This is proof you are  working on this 😉

edit: the attachment shows the hourly values are read correctly, but the day-counter seems to have stopped after the restart. See how it behaves tomorrow.

OK, I will monitor for few days (you are not so lucky today  😎)... But from my point of view, the feature is ready (yes, fully done!) with collect, displaying in controls, widget and daily and historical charts... It will be in 3.6!

Whoahh!

That is great! With news like this I am lucky today 😎, even with little sun hours today.😉

I was hoping for a graph or two, but this is sooo cool! Even a widget... You spoil us users;-)

Can't wait for 3.6 🤩
