[This post is marked as unsolved] Format of realtime.txt file
I am just beginning to use your plugin.
I have a Lacrosse WS-2300 running through a Meteobridge (not the PRO).
I have configured the Meteobridge to push a realtime.txt file to the web server where Wordpress is installed. Meteobridge uses a file called realtime-template.txt to produce realtime.txt
I am unable to add the Station in the Plugin as when I try to add the Station, I get "Unable to use this source for a station: bad file format."
The realtime.txt file is here: http://weather.longoio.net/realtime.txt
And the realtime-template.txt is here: http://weather.longoio.net/realtime-template.txt
The template is based on one I found here: https://forums.homeseer.com/showpost.php?s=47c1ef315533b646281e9c2667d62cba&p=1311740&postcount=11
I think that template creates a realtime.txt file that is in the format described here: http://wiki.sandaysoft.com/a/Realtime.txt
I assume there is a small error?
Wordpress is installed at public_html/wordpress
weather.longoio.net points to public_html/weather on the same server as Wordpress
Hoping you can help.
I tried with the following settings (as web served file):
And it's working:
If you have not modified the template recently, the only cause I can imagine for this issue is the (local) path or the rights on the file...
If it's the real cause, could you tell it me as, obviously, the error message is wrong and I should correct it for the next release of the plugin. 🙂
As an addition to my answer, I'm not sure your public_html directory is at the root of your server... So the source name must be more longer 😉
Hi Pierre, Yes, your settings fixed it; as you saw, I was using the local file option. I haven't modified the template. File permissions are 0644, which means readable by all I think. As to path: I had already tried the fully qualified path (/home/xxxx/public_html/weather) but that hadn't worked either. Thanks for your help; now to put it to use!
Glad that it helped you! (and very happy you choose to give my plugin a try, too). If you're happy with my answer, don't hesitate to "select" it (button in the bottom left corner of the answer)... Have a good time with Weather Station!
i have pretty the same issue. My realtime.txt comes from Meteobridge 3.7 (Jul 26 2018, build 12267), FW 1.4.
My Wordpress Version is 4.9.8 German, Weather Station Plugin is 3.5.5
URL: https://duens.walgauwetter.at/realtime.txt --> My Template is adapted (spaces, zeros...) and should be clean.
If i try this file from above http://weather.longoio.net/realtime.txt i receive the same result.
I can't for now (my internet connection is very poor, I will be back at home in 5 days).
But, what I was saying (based on the screenshot you uploaded): you actually trying to add a stickertags station (see the title in your screenshot). What you want to do is adding a realtime.txt station. You must use (in the add station dialog) the realtime icon. Do you get it?
I’m currently in vacation with no or bad internet access. This night I will have wifi access (well, I hope 😄) I will get an eye on your file and tell you what’s going wrong.
Just have a "wifi window" and I take a quick look at your issue.
First of all, I tried the file on longoio.net and it's working like a charm. So if yours doesn't function correctly it should be for one (or many) of these 3 causes:
- inaccessible file (I've tested it, and it's ok: file is publicly accessible)
- wrong enter or typos in settings (I've elimitated it, because I've tried it)
- error in file format (and... yes, your file doesn't respect the format)
So, with my poor wifi, I've looked at your file. I see some obvious errors (and there are maybe some "not-so-obvious" errors, but I can't see it):
- you don't have the units specificators (position 14->17)
- you have some time fields which are not correctly formated (it must be hh:mm, don't use spaces to separate hours and minutes)
- and, as I said, maybe some other errors I can't see for now.
What I suggest you is to verify the way you generate your file and verify your file adheres to the "official" specifications.
Let me know if it helps...
I've tested your station and its working. Do you have removed https:// from the source name, selected the right source type (Web server HTTPS) and set all required fields?
If it's not working after that, could you create a new post (as it's not the same error) with the content of your events log?
